Dicks can breathe easily now...that I am sure of. However, the turning down of the extradition does not mean to say that the online wagering world has clinched a victory...maybe one battle yes, but the war would still be on for a long time to come...that is my humble take on the matter. One thing is sure though, this is evidence enough that the government of the United States has erred if they thought from the get-go that everything would be a walk in the park for them. This would be more like a walk through the dreaded tunnels featured in the LOTR series...where all kinds of evil lurked (guys, come on...it is Lord Of The Rings). Hey, don't get me wrong...I am NOT saying that the evil are the online entities...far from it.
Governor of NY declared that the law of his state mandates that additional manifestations should be established that the acts supposedly done by Dicks happened in NY. The attorneys of the state concluded that this very technical yet substantial criterion has not been followed.
Now, whether Dicks would still go to a Louisiana court becomes moot. Net gambling/wagering entities have to- from here on- think of the effects
state legislation (like Louisiana's) would have on their operations. (Not to mention travelling plans to the US by the top executives of any offshore wagering entity.)
